Update: Death Stranding on PC Game Pass has now been officially announced by Microsoft. Check out the announcement below.

Original article:

Death Stranding will technically no longer be a PlayStation exclusive when it is revealed for PC Game Pass tomorrow. Microsoft has been dropping hints that the game would be coming to Xbox on PC via its Twitter account, but the announcement looks to be sooner than many would have anticipated. According to reputable leaker Tom Henderson, Microsoft will be making the announcement tomorrow.

Specifically, Henderson says that “Death Stranding is coming to PC Game Pass” and that “the official announcement is tomorrow.” Interestingly, Sony owns the IP to Death Stranding, but 505 Games is the publisher of the PC version of the game. That’s likely how Microsoft has been able to swing getting Death Stranding in the hands of Xbox fans. at least in some form.

Although Microsoft has been hinting at the reveal, seeing Death Stranding on Xbox (even if it’s in the PC app) complete with achievements is not something that many would have expected. After all, Death Stranding is one of Sony’s headline IPs, so much so that it’s right in the PlayStation Studios banner among the other big PlayStation exclusives. Some executives at Sony must be kicking themselves right about now for being in a position where this has happened. It was just a couple of months ago that Hideo Kojima fans were getting themselves worked up over rumors that Sony could be purchasing Kojima Productions.

Recently, Norman Reedus, who plays protagonist Sam Porter Bridges in Death Stranding, confirmed that he was hard at work on the sequel to the original game. We’ll see if Sony is able to keep a better handle on what platforms the sequel ends up on.

Death Stranding is currently available on PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, and PC. We’ll update this post once with the official PC Game Pass announcement from Microsoft once it’s available.
